Sixteen teams selected from the State Level competition will represent their respective states and compete at the Semi Final. This year’s Semi Final competition is held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru from 9-15 August 2018. The Semi Final competition is conducted as a 7-day residential science camp. Four best teams from the Semi Final will compete in the Grand Final that will be held on 30 August 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.

The NSC Semi Final is designed to introduce the students to the fun and exciting process of scientific research. By the end of the competition, the students would be able to value and understand the exciting world of STI through an interesting array of activities. The intensive 7-day residential science camp will also train the students to adopt scientific thinking and rigor, explore the philosophical and ethical dimensions of specific topics as well as to encourage them to pursue higher education and a career in science.

Theme of this year’s Semi Final is Smart Community. Teams will be challenged to carry out STEM and innovation activities through eight modules related to the inventions and technologies that could support and create a smart community environment.
