Workshop On Biohealth In Tropic: Herbal & Microbial Resources

As the Pelan Global Universiti (PGU 2020) took hold, an international collaboration between academia and/or industry established a global and corporate partnership between academic researchers. Through this, the Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD) continues to play its role in the success of the UTM Envision 2025 strategic plan.  In cooperation with the Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), several international programmes have been successfully organized. Partnering with international universities has provided tremendous opportunities for academic researchers on both sides. It was marked by four years of collaboration, 50 joint publications were successfully published between UTM IBD and UNJ to date. Three joint conferences were held, along with other research activities.

For the record, the collaboration started with a lecture on “Bioprocess Industries: Squeezing Cells To Make Money”, at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta on 4 May 2018 by Prof. Dr Hesham Ali-El Enshasy, followed by IBD organizing training of “3 Days Course on Bioprocess Platform Design for Industrial Products of Probiotics”, in UTMJB campus on 1st to 3rd  October 2018. Collaborations continued with the 7th International Conference on Biotechnology for the Wellness Industry (ICBWI), jointly hosted on the UTMKL campus on 27 and 28 November 2018 and 2nd International Postgraduate Symposium in Biotechnology (IPSB) on UTMJB campus on 24 to 25 September 2019. Efforts between the two parties have created a series of successful bilateral relations between both institutions, especially in research and innovation through an extension of the Letter of Collaboration (LoC) agreement that was signed on December 14, 2018 followed by the Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) on August 25th, 2020.

The year 2022 is an additional productive year ahead. Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD organizes a one-day workshop virtually, via live streaming on the facebook page and webex platform in collaboration with Universitas Negeri Jakarta with the theme “Biohealth in Tropic: Herbal & Microbial Resources”. This event will be held in conjunction with the celebration of the 50th successful joint publications by the Institute of Bioproducts Development (IBD), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia & Universitas Negeri Jakarta on Monday, Jan 17th 2022.
