In Search of Profound Truth: Our Journey and Experience at RZS-CASIS
Speaker: Dr. Noor Najihan & Dr. Nurul Asiah Fasehah Muhamad
Summary
Education has lost its soul. Although many have struggled to resuscicate but to no substantial effect. As an academician, this is the vital responsibility that we have to look into. First and foremost, it must begin with ourselves. Studies have shown that teachers and academicians play a big role to make education successful. Thus, this is where the journey to find the profound truth begins. It began from searching the true understanding of what man is which we believe to be an important concept to be understood by all teachers and academicians. As a human being, we have perceptions that shape our attitudes and actions. This perception depends on the knowledge that we have inside our mind. Without having the right knowledge as a foundation, we will loose our track and trapped in an inferiority complex. Knowing the true concept of man puts us back on track to be hakim and ‘adil to ourselves as well as to the significant others that we have to take care of. Then, the search shifted to find the true definition of our roles as Mudarris, Murabbi, Mursyid, Muallim and Muaddib. Parallel with the vision of education to produce insan adabi, teachers and academicians have to have the mind-setting of a Muaddib. However, contextually, their roles interchange based on the situation they encountered. Alhamdulillah, with these strong concepts that we discovered during our time and exposure of the culture of knowledge at RZS-CASIS, it gives us strength to make the next move. This, however, is just a beginning of an endless journey.
