Synopsis
Covid-19 virus when first appeared in late 2019 in Wuhan, China that spread like wild fire locally and caused significant mortality and morbidity. It was not feared much by the non-affected countries in the world at the beginning. However within few months, Covid-19 began appearing in other countries including America, Europe and Asia. Those countries where control measures for this virus had been weak, it resulted in exponential infections and rising death. Malaysia was also not isolated from this pandemic attack. Numerous reasons were given as to why this virus spread very fast and difficult to contain.
Over the past 10 months, Malaysians has been subjected to numerous stages and measures of control for Covid 19 transmissions, imposed by the government. The Malaysian healthcare system has also been challenged significantly. The political scenarios, economic volatility, social impact, environmental impact and many other aspects have been scrutinized by many experts in their own perspectives of interests.
This short talk will attempt to touch on some aspects of interest, especially the healthcare systems preparedness, some seen and unseen impacts on medical resources, how much longer we need to suffer or live with this virus, as well as suggestions on how best we can address these concerns.
