Distinguished Lecture Series : Exploring and Harnessing N20-=reducing Bacteria Towards N20 Mitigation in Engineered Systems

Professor Akihiko Terada is a Professor of Environmental Bioengineering and Industrial Technology & Innovation at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Industrial Technology and Innovation, Tokyo University of Agriculture & Technology (TUAT), Japan. He completed his Ph.D from Waseda University in March 2006, followed by postdoctoral stint at TU Denmark from 2006 to 2009. He joined TUAT as Senior Assistant Professor in 2009 and was promoted to the rank of Full Professor in 2017. Prof. Aki’s research expertise includes biochemical engineering, environmental biotechnology and microbiology. To date he had successfully graduated 13 Ph.D and 50 Master students as well as supervising 5 postdoctoral researchers. Prof Aki had published 116 publications in Web of Science with h-index of 30 and around 2700 citation counts. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Water and Environment Technology and sits on the Editorial Board of 5 other highly reputable journals. Apart from this, Prof. Aki is also very active in the international scientific communities notably through his involvement with the International Water Association either as Management Committee (for Biofilm and Microbial Ecology & Water Engineering working groups), as Committee (Japan-Young Water Professional) or as Steward for the Society for Biotechnology, Japan and Japan Society on Water Environment. He is also a regular recipient for various national awards from institution such as Japan Sewage Works Association, Japan Society for Chemical Engineers, Kurita Water and Environment Foundation and Japan Society on Water Environment
