Distinguished Lecture Series : High-Pressure Technology for Biomass Fractionation in Terms of Bioeconomy and Biorefinery Concept

Dr. Héctor A. Ruiz obtained his Ph.D in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Centre of Biological Engineering at the University of Minho, Portugal in 2011. Then 1 year as postdoctoral researcher at University of Minho (Portugal) and University of Vigo (Spain). He is currently Full Professor in the Faculty of Chemistry Sciences at the Autonomous University of Coahuila, founder of Biorefinery Group and coordinator of the biorefinery pilot plant in the Food Research Department, Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico and leader of the biomass pretreatment stage in the Cluster of Bioalcoholes in the Mexican Centre for Innovation in Bioenergy. Dr. Ruiz is currently working on the development of biorefinery strategies for the production high added-value compounds and biofuels from lignocellulosic, micro and macroalgal biomass in the context of the bioeconomy. He has authored or co-authored of 80 publications including papers and chapters, with > 2600 citations and h-index of 30 (Google Scholar Citations). Dr. Ruiz is Editor-in-Chief of BioEnergy Research Journal (Springer Publishing), Associate Editor of Biotechnology for Biofuels (Springer Nature), Editor of the book “Hydrothermal Processing in Biorefineries” published by the Springer. Since 2019 he is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
