The Year 2020 is unprecedented with the outbreak of COVID-19 that has impacted the whole world significantly. As a result, we no longer respond to the environment the same way we used to. Hence, how do we move forward to ensure that our quality of life is adjusted to the new norm? From the built environment perspective, we have an influential role to play in supporting public health measures and reducing the risk of infections. Therefore, the pandemic not only changes our daily routine norm but also changes our perspective on developing the built environment. It challenges us to rethink buildings and urban areas for our quality of life, which could potentially leverage sustainable built environment solutions with win-win outcomes. There is a need to rethink the overall built environment for integrating potential measures to control the COVID-19 pandemic. Four distinguished panels from different fields of the built environment are invited to discuss this issue within the context of moving on with the COVID-19 pandemic and to elaborate on the roles of the built environment profession to contribute more meaningfully.
