Synopsis :
The ever changing external and internal factors require a Higher Education Institution (HEI) to have a robust quality management system which is resilient and can adapt to changes. Can our existing management system handle these issues? The question of ‘Are we there yet?’ can be answered when we achieve the customer’s satisfaction. Each HEI is unique and have its own way of handling this, but there are basic principles that can help us move towards this. This talk will present scope, criteria, issues and challenges towards a robust Quality Management Framework for a higher education institution. The talk will also present on the UNITEN experience in enhancing its quality framework namely UNIQuE (UNITEN Integrated Quality Ecosystem). Being a self-accrediting university, the UNIQuE is expected to further enhance the academic quality and its support services. The UNIQuE framework is the integration of various quality initiatives and harmonising core processes in meeting the stakeholders requirements based on the quality standards such as the Malaysian Qualifications Framework, the ISO Quality Management System, the MS 1900 Shariah-Based Quality Management System, Risk Management System and Anti-Bribery Management Systems (ABMS). The enhancement is also expected to support the UNITEN strategic direction BOLD2025 Refresh, which has 3 strategic goals, namely Teaching and Learning excellence, Research excellence and Financial sustainability. The framework is supported by the institution core values culture as well as continual quality improvement cycles.
