he VIE session was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ismid Md Said (Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) and accompanied by Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin, Associate Director (Global Strategy & Engagement), Mr. Ahmad Hilman Borhan, Manager (International Relations), Ms. Zetty Raihan Binti Hj Mohd Yassin, Manager (Student Mobility), Ms. Nureen Syazwani Johari and Ms. Nur Shafikah Misran from UTM International. On the other side, IIT Bombay was represented by Prof. Amit Agrawal, Dean (International Relations) and Ms. Tanvi Mehta, Executive Officer (International Relations).
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is No.1 University in India as per Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (2022) which ranked this university at 177th in the world. Established in 1958, the institute is recognised as a leader in the field of engineering education and research in India. Reputed for the outstanding caliber of students graduating from its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the institute attracts the best students from the country for its bachelor’s, masters and doctoral programmes. It offers degrees including Bachelor of Technology, Four Year Bachelor of Science, Five Year Master of Science, and 2 or 3 Year Master of Technology.
Among the matters discussed in the meeting were the proposed student exchange and mobility activities between UTM and IIT Bombay, and also a future academic and research collaboration especially in the field of Mechanical Engineering. UTM and IIT Bombay will be signing a Letter of Collaboration (LoC) by the end of next month. Therefore, this meeting was important to expedite the collaboration between both universities.
